The Germans continue to clean up my trapped forces.
The centre pocket is all but obliterated in wave after wave of attacks.
They free their forces in Pskov.
Then they continue their advance.
They push near Smolensk, but it feels half hearted.
Again, they have to spend time rescuing units.
In the south, there are a general series of attacks.
A lot of these are held by the defenders – a lot more than I would have expected at this stage. The time bought in blood to build those fortifications was worth it.
In fact, as fraps is not grabbing the combat results well, this is the best way to show the number of attacks – each number on the tank symbol is an attack on that hex. We are holding well here.
The Romanians have broken through my thin line however.
Another quarter of a million casualties – most of them from the shrinking pockets.
I have changed the token settings to combat value – so we are now seeing offensive/defensive combat values. Here I rush to try and shore up this front.

I rotate my forces as best I can.
At Smolensk, I have fresh troops to put into the line.
This is looking like a strong defence now.
I wish the same could be said in the north – though I do have troops coming in, I doubt Pskov will hold.
For those who are unfamiliar with the game, the two numbers over Pskov (and every major city) are the victory points – this says the city is worth 10 points, with +2 points to the Germans if they take the city now, this is a bonus for doing better than historically accurate, so you can see we are not doing to badly here.
This shows the current VP, the Axis high VP, various cut off dates and a list of cities, along with the turns they were historically captured by both sides – so the Germans are behind in Smolensk and Pskov.
