They have at least one strong unit in the north. For now.
It seems they have no intention of retreating.
In fact, they continue to try and advance.
They also strike back at my advance on the side here.
Most of my gains are reversed.
Finally they hit the southern flank, trying to widen that neck.
They also counter attack here.
The German attempts to break out are frankly pitiful.
They retake this port.
They use their tanks here, rather than any attempt to reconnect their trapped troops.
These are pretty standard, but about to go up!
Step one – take Tallann.
Now all their supplies come through that one port in the south, but I'm unable to take it this turn.
I begin to grind them south.
I'm moving up artillery, but mostly holding here – I don't want them to run until I'm ready to cut them off! This snow has reduced my tank units to 1:1 combat ratios, despite them all being at 50-90% TOE.
The back and forth continues here.
I also shatter a Luftwaffe division here.
Then it's on to working on my trapped friends.
Annoyingly, they have a good amount of supplies still and good defensive terrain – I have to move units across rivers and into swamps, so don't get as many attacks off as I would like.
At least these guys are doing something.
And this is better than nothing!
It's still looking good however!
