The attacks begin with an attempt to reconnect with those cut off divisions.
Their panzers make a series of attacks in this region.
And they of course rescue their comrades.
But thankfully for me, no progress is made advancing on Smolensk.
This is the furthest north the attacks go.
And even here their advances are minimal.
To the south they start by smashing a hole in my line.
They widen the hole.
Soon there is little to oppose them.
The assault on Kiev begins.
It takes them six attacks, but they clear the north of the city.
My losses have dropped dramatically. I'm short of 2 million losses, but it's almost evens this week.
I have my first Guard's unit! Also they seem to have completely pulled back from Lenningrad.

The rest of the north is stable – and there are two more guards units near Smolensk.
But they have reserves.
I shore up around those advanced units.
Kiev is well fortified, but I can't move across the Dnepr, so the defenders are on their own.
This is my biggest worry, but the front line held for long enough to to detrain my reinforcements.
That's better – I'd have liked more time to dig in, but beggars can't be choosers.
More men are steaming their way south – all of this weeks reinforcements in fact!
That's a nice map – only minimal enemy advances.
