Battle begins with some half hearted pushes in the north. The Germans begin a drive on Orel. And their not advancing quickly enough. There are no attacks at all on Smolensk. There are also some minor attacks along the line. But no real movement. Down south, they begin to liquidate the pocket. It doesn't take them long. They make more advances in the far south. The mud has slowed the tempo – most of my losses are from them cleaning up along the line. Leningrad is going to hold. Scanning down the line, this is the first point of worry. Kiev looks like it's going to hold. I decide to evacuate this bulge – it will be temporary. This is the best I can do – the far south is weak, but should be easy to cut off when we counter attack. Reinforcements are steamed into position. The Finns are advancing.. While the Germans seem to be confident enough to leave troops in Europe. Thankfully, lend lease has begun.
